Michael Hughey has had a love affair with beautiful letters since childhood; it continues to this day. Enriched by studies with artists and designers from Europe and the US, Michael feels that "...there is, indeed, an important place in human society for the warmth, beauty, and grace that calligraphy can bring to our lives."

In business 50+ years, we are a modest graphic design and publishing studio, specializing in calligraphy, typography, design, and illustration. As well as meeting the needs of clients, we create, publish, and distribute original note cards, post cards, matted and framed broadsides, limited-edition prints, and hand-written books. We use "green" products and processes whenever possible. The content of our published work reflects an appreciation of the universality of spiritual virtues, the unity and brotherhood of mankind, a fondness for life, letters, and language, and a distinct value in the diverse expression of truth and wisdom from the myriad cultures of our beautiful and fragile planet. In this vein, our aim is to make our calligraphic art a fitting ornament for the thought or expression. We sells prints and cards primarily in fine art and craft galleries, directly by mail, and take commissions for original works, wedding invitations, and unique manuscript books; we teach calligraphy & handwriting.

Classes at the J.C. Campbell Folk School (www.FolkSchool.org ): Sept. 8-14, 2024, "A Simple Modern Hand & Simple Book-making" (italic handwriting for everyday use), a week-long class.
